Bialik earned a BS from UCLA in 2000 in Neuroscience and Hebrew and Jewish Studies, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, also from UCLA in 2007. Bialik was a dedicated student leader at UCLA Hillel and is an avid student of all things Jewish, speaking all over the country for Jewish and academic institutions and organizations.

She founded a website community in 2015, GrokNation.com. GrokNation is a growing community of contributing writers, but most typically features articles by Mayim about politics, women’s issues, parenting, social justice and observations of a regular mom living a life in the Hollywood spotlight.

She gave birth to her first son in 2005, and her second son (born at home, unassisted until pushing) in 2008. She is devoted to a lifestyle of homeschooling, natural family living and vegan cooking. Her book about Attachment Parenting, Beyond the Sling, was published in March 2012 (Simon and Schuster) and Mayim’s Vegan Table, a cookbook co-authored by pediatrician Dr. Jay Gordon, was published in 2014.

Bialik is a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor and lives in Los Angeles with her 2 sons and 2 cats.

He has produced 24 films, beginning in 1998. Most recently, he has produced Truth (2015), Romeo & Juliet (2013), Nebraska (2013), The Numbers Station (2013), and Afternoon Delight (2013).

Nebraska was nominated for 6 Academy Awards and 5 Golden Globes. In 2002, Mankoff was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for the film Things Behind the Sun (2001).

It is tool to allow members with approved projects to raise funds from third party donors for projects, while allowing these donors to deduct the full amount of their contribution from their tax returns. It is an alternative form of film financing geared specifically towards the independent filmmaker looking to make a film less than likely to receive traditional financing.

JenLA uses the Pre-Approved Grant Relationship (“Model C”).

How does it work?
JenLA members with pre-approved projects may raise funds from outside sources for use exclusively in the production and post production of their project. These funds are donated directly to JenLA, which in turn sponsors the production using the funds donated less a 9% administrative fee. Using this method, the contributions are 100% tax deductible to the donor and the production receives the financing needed to bring their project to life.

As the Fiscal Sponsor for your project, JenLA does not take any ownership of your project, though we welcome any additional donations received from any revenues generated by the film. We do not interfere on your creative vision or control, unless the project breaks our standards and morals agreement as signed by the production prior to receiving project approval.

We do not place a lien on your copyright, or prevent you from future sales or profit from your project. Our primary role is to assure that the money you raise is being properly dispersed and used for the project as intended.

Projects We Sponsor (project criteria)
To qualify for fiscal sponsorship, the project must represent a positive contribution to the JenLA mission. This is not a program designed to create work-for-hire productions, but rather projects of passion that can further the cause of creative expression within the JenLA community.

Additionally, the film’s director or producer/exec. producer must be a JenLA member in good standing and each projects must have at least one other JenLA member in a key role (above the line or department head). Each project will have to go through an application process and receive approval by a majority of the board of JenLA.

Greenstein is a graduate of the University of Central Florida – College of Business Administration, where he majored marketing with a concentration in sales.

Prior to entering the film business, he was an Assistant Trainer for the Anthony Robbins Foundation, owned and published a performance driven magazine for young professionals, and owned and operated a commercial carpet cleaning company he started at the age of 19.
