Tough Sledding: The Movie

Donations are tax-deductible!* (Over $30,000 raised so far!)

One of the greatest underdogs in sports history, seeded 6th behind a “to be determined” team, the 2002 US National Sled Hockey Team won the Gold Medal in the Salt Lake City Paralympics. Tough Sledding is their story. Help shine a light on the incredible heart & determination of this forgotten team, whose achievements made a rippling effect in the Paralympic movement. Let’s make a scripted movie together that with YOUR HELP can have a lasting cultural impact like Hoosiers, Miracle, and Murderball.

Ok you say, I may watch that as a documentary or read a book about it. We get it. That’s why with your help we have to tell this story as a scripted narrative. It is complex. There are personal journeys of hardship, a history of team dysfunction, and loyalties divided that almost derailed the entire effort the night before the opening game. This story has the moxie of legendary films such as Miracle on Ice, Hoosiers, The Fighter and Murderball. This story can have a reach that a documentary can rarely achieve.  WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY to inspire viewers to see these Paralympic athletes for who they are, in a way that only a “sports movie” can do.

In addition, we plan to cast multiple roles by disabled actors and paraplegic athletes. We will also work with the Casting Society of America who recently held open auditions for disabled actors, leading the industry in greater diversity in casting.  We thank you in advance for your support in giving us the opportunity to create a moving narrative that incorporates so many stories of grit, passion and perseverance from our Team USA heroes.
